Fund-Raising

Making ends meet

While membership fees cover most of the costs associated with running a bowls club, they don't cover everything.

The green and its surrounds are all looked after by bowls club volunteers. That includes:

  • Mowing the green three times a week
  • Watering the green daily
  • Maintaining the flower boxes and hedges
  • Maintaining the clubhouse and equipment sheds
  • Cleaning the clubhouse
  • Rotivating, leveling, and reseeding the green once a year

However, there are still things we need that we must pay for: electricity, water, rent, and insurance for starters, plus the tools and equipment the volunteers use to keep on top of the maintenance.

To help with this we run fund-raising events and activities throughout the year:

Bonus Ball lottery

Cost is £1 per week for 20 weeks with a £25 prize each week. Open to all members, family and friends and we need 59 names.

Coffee Morning - 4th June

Our fund-raising Coffee Morning is on Thursday 4th June from 10-12 noon in the Brantham Leisure Centre. Tickets at £5 include a scone and unlimited tea/coffee and can be obtained from committee members. There will be a raffle, bottle tombola, books etc. All members, family, friends are very welcome at this sociable occasion.

Family Fun Day - 1st August

Come along for some bowls-related challenges and a buffet lunch. Team of up to 6, tickets cost £10 per person. Suitable for all ages.

Book & Puzzles Sales

We have a small shop where you can buy used books and jigsaw puzzles for very little

Used Bowls, Bowls Equipment and Clothing

As people drop out of the club or upgrade their kit, they often donate their old bowls and bowls kit to the club. This ensures that new members have equipment to learn with and the opportunity to buy gear they like at greatly reduced prices

Sponsorship

Several local businesses support our club by advertising within the annual Fixtures List and by providing plants and flowers for our boxes. We don't currently have a sponsor for our kit. If you own a business and would like to get involved, please get in touch.
